Forklift or also called a pallet truck, is a powered industrial truck used to lift and transport materials.  The modern forklift was developed in the 1960s by various companies including the transmission manufacturing company.  The forklift has since become an indispensable piece of equipment in manufacturing and warehousing operations. Now days there are two types of forklift: electrical and diesel powered forklift.  Electric forklifts are best indoors because they do not produce any exhaust emissions that could endanger personnel.  The hourly operating cost of these lifts is lower that IC lifts.  Electric models are quieter in operation and cleaner which is good for pharmacies and food handling operations.  While diesel aside from being operable outside, diesel forklifts have a higher carrying load rating than electric forklifts.  Various fuels can be used including gas, propane and diesel.  Diesel is the least expensive.  It may be more economical to use an IC forklift which uses the same fuel as the other vehicles in your fleet.  They can be refueled quickly and are cheaper to operate, but do cost more to run hour of operation.
